Custom Made Orthtoics

What it is

At TMC we offer high quality custom made foot orthotics for a wide variety of conditions. Orthotics are orthopedic devices that are used to alter or modify foot function and are designed to treat, adjust, and support various biomechanical foot disorders. Custom-made orthotics are crafted to meet the specific needs of a particular individual. Custom orthotics are created using an impression of the foot called a cast, which duplicates any misalignments in foot structure. Using the cast and computer technology, specialists at the orthotic lab design a device that balances out deformities and corrects misalignments. The finished orthotic is placed in the patient's shoe to support the foot and eliminate abnormal foot biomechanics by keeping the foot properly aligned.

The following are just some of the common symptoms that may indicate misalignment of the feet:

check Abnormal shoe wear (e.g., one side of the sole of the shoe wears out faster than the other)
check Bunions
check Chronic heel (e.g., plantar fasciitis), knee, or low back pain
check Flatfeet
check Frequent ankle sprains
check Gait abnormalities (e.g., feet point inward or excessively outward during walking)
check Shin pain (e.g., shin splints)

Fees

Custom made orthotics are individually priced based on the type of orthotics you require. Please contact us at 416-661-4646 to find out more.

As not all extended health plans are the same, it is your responsibility to check if you are covered for custom made orthotics. As well, some extended plans may need a biomechanical exam form and/or a doctor's referral. You can find this information in your benefits booklet, or by calling your extended health provider.
